WEST MIDLANDS, UK, August 14, 2023—West Midlands providers have begun using InterSystems HealthShare to integrate region-wide cancer registry data.
The initiative allows clinicians to easily view cancer patient healthcare data and gain access to other specialist expertise, enabling them to make faster, more accurate decisions to ensure they are providing optimal and timely cancer care.
InterSystems HealthShare shared care record enables providers across integrated care systems to draw on cancer registry information to optimize critical multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs) across the region. In coordination with InterSystems, the West Midlands Cancer Alliance has developed a new tool for running these complex MDTs, which is focused on broadening access to detailed information about cancer treatment and diagnosis across the health service as a whole.
As Chris Norton, managing director of the UK and Ireland at InterSystems, put it: “[This solution] cuts out the need to chase information from multiple sources, and it has the potential to be genuinely transformational for UK healthcare.”
