Spring is definitely in the air!

The days are longer, warmer, and frequently rainy. I don’t know about you, but I’ve been prepping my garden and feeling the urge to deep-clean everything.

Spring is so often about reconnecting with our community. We emerge from the cold and dark months of winter hibernation and jump straight into conference season. For J2, there’s also our annual company retreat, canonically held on a mountaintop so we can squeeze out the last days of winter and snow. We get to reconnect with familiar, smiling faces and plot a course for the rest of the year.

What do we want to accomplish? What are our goals? What do we need to get there?

We’re planting our metaphorical seeds and making the necessary changes to ensure success.

Where in the world is J2?


First in Orlando, and then to Maryland, Jen has been up and down the East Coast over the past month. Most recently, she was at the 2024 State HIT Connect Summit, which explored how states are utilizing emerging technologies, ideas, processes, and change management approaches in order to drive transformative and sustainable HHS ecosystem transformation.

Winteractive 2024

 

​​​​​Winteractive is J2’s annual company retreat; as a fully remote company, it’s our opportunity to see everyone in person. The retreat is centered around skiing, but there are plenty of activities for non-skiers. This year the retreat was held at Big Sky, Montana with opportunities to visit Yellowstone, horseback riding, and the Museum of the Rockies.

We also held our first (but not last!) nerd competition. J2 is a company of nerds, but who is the nerdiest of them all? Nine contestants stood in front of a packed room and told five judges why they were the ultimate nerd. We had two runner-ups, but the person wearing the sash won the title by flawlessly reciting an entire excerpt from Tolkien’s Silmarillion. 

Needless to say, a good time was had by all!

In an interview at HIMSS 2024, Department of Veterans Affairs Under Secretary, Shereef Elnahal, said data-sharing efforts at the agency, like its application programming interface (API) network and interoperability developments, could serve as models for how the entire US healthcare system can work together.

New Federal Health IT Strategy Seeks Better Healthcare Experience

The US Department of Health and Human Services through the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology released the draft 2024–2030 Federal Health IT Strategic Plan for public comment by May 28, 2024. The draft Plan outlines federal health IT goals and objectives focused on improving access to health data.
 

Erica Galvez Highlights the Role of Collaborations and Partnerships in Improving Public Health

By day, J2’s Jem Dankyi is a client program manager. By night, a fashion designer. She’s been sewing professionally for over 35 years, with her designs incorporating different cultures to produce unique handmade clothing and accessories. All those clothes in the above pictures are made by her!

Every Day Is Earth Day

It’s April. It’s Spring. It’s almost Earth Day.

But let’s be honest: EVERYDAY IS EARTH DAY!!! And Rachel wants you to help clean the planet by playing Bingo.

rePurpose Global is doing a deep clean in the Himalayan Mountains and you can play their Eco-Bingo to support this effort. Every Bingo = ten pounds of plastic removed from nature and co-processed into energy, which is then used to power the grid. A full card doubles the impact for 100 POUNDS OF PLASTIC collected and processed.
