J2 Interactions Newsletter | July '24

Happy Birthday, America!

Since our last newsletter, we’ve marked two significant holidays for our country: Juneteenth and the Fourth of July. Both celebrate freedom, bringing communities together to celebrate common ground.

I’ve been reflecting on the power of “we”—the power of what happens when people come together in pursuit of a shared goal. I’m also a history enthusiast, so I know how these historical successes came down to having the right people with the right skills on the team.

I like to think back and imagine what it would have been like for those historical figures at the moment—trusting someone other than yourself to get the job done. Especially with such high stakes! I’ve learned to look for a few key things when considering high-stakes partnerships: honesty, good communication. But most importantly, are they moving towards the same goal as me? Because if we’re working towards the same goal, the rest is going to easily fall into place.

J2 has the goal of improving healthcare systems and, ultimately, the communities those systems serve.

How do you use the power of “we” in pursuit of your goals?

J2 Insider

In case you missed it, J2 showcased two innovative tools at the InterSystems Global Summit Demos & Drinks extravaganza. Our two submissions, Message Analysis Reporting Solution (MARS) and the J2 Ops Workbench, both made waves as they were nominated in the Most Innovative and Most Likely to Use categories. Both solutions work as enhancements to your HealthShare or IRIS for Health environments, and both are widely used at J2 to ensure data accuracy and implementation efficiency. The Ops Workbench suite was used during a recent migration, saving the project an estimated 2,000 hours of labor and facilitating an exceptionally smooth go-live.

Over 30 companies participated in Demos & Drinks, all of whom were doing impressive things with InterSystems technology! Congratulations to everyone who presented, especially to the winners!

As part of the Oscars theme, J2 whipped up some movie trailers for our demos!

Celebrating Our J2 “In-ployees”

Attending One of the Biggest Motorsport Events in the World

J2’s Liam Goss attended this year’s 24 Hour of Le Mans (also known as LM24), an endurance-focused sports car race held annually near the town of Le Mans, France.

Widely considered one of the world’s most prestigious races, it (along with the Monaco Grand Prix and Indianapolis 500) forms the Triple Crown of Motorsport. Run since 1923, it is the oldest active endurance racing event in the world.

In Liam’s words, “The LM24 is for die-hard motorsport fans, of which 329,000 people attended this year. There’s plenty to do: attending concerts, exploring the village, viewing the drivers parade, seeing the museum, going karting, and attending the opening ceremony. You may even find time to watch some motorsport, in between a beer or two, of course.”

The highlight for Liam is always the nighttime racing, where you pick your sport next to the track and hunker down for the night to watch the three classes battle it out as the sun sets. “It’s always an adventure at the LM24. Some good, some bad, but it still amazes me that at some point you wake up from a much-needed sleep (nothing to do with beer, I swear) to hear over 50 teams battling it out.”
